Understanding Roles
Kite uses a role-based system to manage permissions and access across your event.
Overview
Each user can have one or more roles within an event. Roles determine what features and data a user can access.
Available Roles
Organizer
Full event management access
Organizers can:
- Create and edit event details
- Manage all submissions
- Build and edit schedules
- Configure tickets and payments
- Send communications
- Manage all users and roles
- Access analytics
- Configure settings
Note: The event creator is automatically an organizer.
Speaker
Submit and manage presentations
Speakers can:
- Submit talk proposals
- View their submission status
- Accept or decline speaking invitations
- Upload presentation materials
- View their schedule slots
- Manage their speaker profile
Co-Speaker
Participate in presentations
Co-speakers can:
- View submissions they're added to
- See their schedule slots
- Update their profile
Note: Co-speakers are added to submissions by the main speaker or organizers.
Attendee
Register and participate in the event
Attendees can:
- Register for the event
- Purchase tickets
- View the event schedule
- Build a personal agenda
- Browse other attendees
- Schedule meetings
- Check in at the event
Evaluator
Review and rate submissions
Evaluators can:
- View assigned submissions
- Provide ratings and feedback
- Track their evaluation progress
- View submission details
Note: Evaluators only see submissions assigned to them.
Sponsor
Manage sponsorship
Sponsors can:
- Access the sponsor portal
- View their package details
- Complete assigned tasks
- Upload required documents
- Manage sponsor profile

Multiple Roles
Users can have multiple roles within the same event. For example:
- An organizer can also be a speaker
- A speaker can also be an attendee
- An evaluator can also be an attendee
Assigning Roles
As an Organizer
- Go to Team or Users section
- Find the user or click "+ Add User"
- Select the role(s) to assign
- Save changes
Inviting New Users
- Go to Team > Invite
- Enter the user's email
- Select the role
- Click "Send Invitation"
- User receives email to join
Removing Roles
- Go to Team section
- Find the user
- Click "Edit"
- Uncheck the role(s)
- Save changes

Best Practices
Organizer Role
- Limit to trusted team members
- Have at least 2 organizers as backup
- Review permissions regularly
Evaluator Role
- Assign based on expertise
- Distribute submissions evenly
- Set clear evaluation criteria
Speaker Role
- Assign after CFP selection
- Ensure speakers complete profiles
- Track confirmation status
