Understanding Roles

Kite uses a role-based system to manage permissions and access across your event.

Overview

Each user can have one or more roles within an event. Roles determine what features and data a user can access.

Available Roles

Organizer

Full event management access

Organizers can:

Note: The event creator is automatically an organizer.

Speaker

Submit and manage presentations

Speakers can:

Co-Speaker

Participate in presentations

Co-speakers can:

Note: Co-speakers are added to submissions by the main speaker or organizers.

Attendee

Register and participate in the event

Attendees can:

Evaluator

Review and rate submissions

Evaluators can:

Note: Evaluators only see submissions assigned to them.

Manage sponsorship

Multiple Roles

Users can have multiple roles within the same event. For example:

Assigning Roles

As an Organizer

  1. Go to Team or Users section
  2. Find the user or click "+ Add User"
  3. Select the role(s) to assign
  4. Save changes

Inviting New Users

  1. Go to Team > Invite
  2. Enter the user's email
  3. Select the role
  4. Click "Send Invitation"
  5. User receives email to join

Removing Roles

  1. Go to Team section
  2. Find the user
  3. Click "Edit"
  4. Uncheck the role(s)
  5. Save changes
